Statistical operations are the basic unit for planning the statistical activity of the Statistical Institutes. All the resources that are published are directly or indirectly related to some operation. This API makes it possible to consult the inventory of statistical operations of the Institute, the differences that exist between the different realizations of the same statistical operation (instances) and their grouping into families. Thus, for example, we have that the "Population and Housing Census" is a statistical operation of which we can find different realizations or instances (2011 Census, 2001 Census, 1991 Census, etc.) and that could be grouped with other operations within a family "Population statistics". The information on statistical operations and their instances is harmonized with the Eurostat proposal for the European Statistical System and defined in the document EURO-SDMX Metadata Structure (release 4, December 2014).
An indicator is a measure of the intensity of a phenomenon in space-time. This measure has data of different spatial granularities (for example: autonomous communities and municipalities), or of different temporal units (for example: years and months). A single indicator can rarely provide useful information about complex phenomena such as the economic situation, living conditions or schooling, among many others. The indicator systems are designed to provide precise information about a phenomenon, and for this they are organized into dimensions or areas of analysis, under which the indicators are integrated. The purpose of this API is to allow access to data and metadata of: Indicator Systems, Indicators and Indicator Instances.
Statistical information resources are the products obtained from a statistical operation. The purpose of this API is to facilitate the consultation of all the statistical resources stored in the system: cubes or statistical tables, publications or collections of tables, queries to statistical cubes.
The structural resources are those that serve as support to normalize the statistical resources that are produced. The main existing structural resources are organization schemes, topic schemes, concept schemes, classifications and definitions of data structures. This API allows you to consult the complete inventory of the structural resources that the organization manages.
There are certain metadata that always take the same value for all the resources that are published by a specific organization. Examples of this type of metadata are: the contact details of the organization, the description of the organization or the license that the organization applies to the data they publish. To avoid defining the value taken by this metadata in each of the resources (which, as we have said, is always the same in the same organization), common metadata configurations are defined. Each organization may have its own metadata configuration and this allows us to make the maintenance of this type of documentation simple and not prone to errors.
The SDMX Registry API implements the registry specifications of said international standard. Through this API it is possible to obtain all the SDMX artifacts that the Institute has available in its systems. This service is based on the premise of centralizing the location of statistical metadata data resources in such a way that it can be reused by any third party.
Export statistical resources is a common and very useful task to be able to deal with the data handled by the agency on a day-to-day basis. This API provides us with the necessary functionality to be able to export statistical resources in different formats.
